ABOUT

Welcome to the Deaf Darts Organisation, where passion for the game meets a commitment to inclusivity and grow the sport in the heart of the Deaf community. Founded by a group of deaf dart enthusiasts, our mission is to create a welcoming community that celebrates the sport of darts through accessibility, camaraderie, and competition.

The Deaf Darts Organisation began with a simple idea: to create a vibrant community where deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals could come together to enjoy the sport of darts. Our founders, a group of passionate players who faced challenges in traditional darts settings, envisioned a space where everyone could participate fully and feel included.

Over the years, we’ve grown into a thriving community of players, supporters, and advocates. Our events have not only showcased talent but have also highlighted the importance of communication and understanding in all aspects of the game. Through partnerships with local businesses and organizations, we’ve expanded our reach, providing resources and opportunities for players at all levels.

Today, our story continues to evolve. We are committed to breaking down barriers in the sport of darts, fostering a sense of belonging, and inspiring the next generation of players. Together, we celebrate our achievements, learn from each other, and most importantly, have fun while throwing darts!

Join us as we write the next chapter of our story—one where everyone can aim for the bullseye, no matter their background or ability.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

When I was in primary school, around 8 years old, my father often watched darts on TV, following Phil Taylor's incredible achievements. At the time, I disliked watching darts because I couldn’t understand the game. However, my father took me to a social club and taught me how to throw darts. I fell in love with the sport, but after a while, I stopped throwing and only watched darts on TV. During the COVID pandemic, Ryan messaged me about darts, which sparked my interest again. I started playing darts at home and ended up winning the Men’s 3-a-side and Men’s doubles competitions, even representing England and winning at the Home Nations Game. I am truly grateful to Ryan and to COVID for bringing me back to darts. I want to introduce young deaf people to this brilliant sport, as it combines both math and mental strategy.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

From a young age, darts has been my passion which my father taught me the game — believe it or not but my first word as a baby was “one hundred and eighty”! Growing up in a darts loving family, I was inspired by legends like John Lowe, Eric Bristow and Phil Taylor. I've played in pub leagues for years, and now, as part of DDO, my mission is to elevate the game within the deaf community. I believe in DDO’s potential to revitalise darts in the UK and Europe, bridging gaps and creating excitement where the sport has faded. I’m committed to making darts more inclusive and engaging for everyone giving them a bigger platform to perform allowing them to make a legacy in the sport.

I’m the treasurer for the Deaf Darts Organisation (DDO). I first started playing darts with my dad at home when I was about 11 years old, but I stopped until James reintroduced me to the game in Wales. I won a team event with Ryan and James in Dundee. I'm aiming to improve my darts skills and help develop the future of the DDO, especially by supporting young deaf talent.

Luke Littler is the main reason I got into darts after his debut at the PDC World Darts Championship 2023-2024. Since then, I’ve watched a lot of darts competitions, and for some reason, I really like Ryan Searle. I believe the DDO presents an excellent opportunity to advance the next generation, and I’m excited to work passionately with this new team.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

My love for darts started when I was about 10 years old, when my dad and his best friend took me to the pub to watch them play. They taught me how to play, and I've been involved in deaf darts tournaments in the UK for over 25 years now, and I absolutely love the game.

My favourite player was Steve Beaton because I admired his throwing style and his " Adonis" look!

I look forward to being part of DDO, getting more people involved in deaf darts, and helping to organise more deaf tournaments across the UK in the future.
